There’s a lot of controversy over the healthfulness or harmfulness of dairy depending on your source, but it’s hard to deny the fact that dairy has been eaten for thousands of years while supporting health and longevity. Dairy is also high in calcium, which according to experts is a huge simulator of the metabolic rate. Dairy products in recent decades have been highly adulterated, often with the fat partially or completely removed along with the fat soluble vitamins, which may cause some harmful effects often sited in recent studies.
Today however, we have one more study to support the healthfulness of cheese, specifically supporting a longer life and faster metabolism. According to the Telegraph.com:
“It’s the best news we’ve had all year: a study suggests that cheese consumption could be the key to a faster metabolism and reduced obesity.
Scientists at Aarhus University in Denmark investigated the fact that the French tend to lead long and healthy lives while consuming diets high in saturated fats.
Though most explanations of this phenomenon, known as the ‘French Paradox’, focus on wine consumed and lifestyle, this new Danish research points to a simpler answer.
The study, published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, suggests that fermented dairy products such as cheese could contribute to longevity and health.”
