In brief, research suggests that coffee increases the production of gastric acid, increases peristalsis through the release of gastrin and cholecystokinin, and increases the speed at which your stomach dumps food into your small intestines. Last but not least, coffee affects the movement of the large intestines (your colon) within four minutes of consuming it!
